RHS Dianthus Hollandia Purple Crown Seeds 100 Seeds, Sweet William Hardy Perennial Flower
RHS Dianthus Hollandia Purple Crown Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce striking cottage garden style Sweet Williams in bold purple and white tones. These eye catching blooms create dense, colourful clusters that stand out beautifully in mixed borders and cut flower displays.
Flowering in their first year from early sowings, this hardy perennial grows to approximately 50cm in height with a spread of around 30cm. The compact upright habit makes it ideal for the middle of borders, adding vibrant contrast and strong summer colour from July to October.
Hollandia Purple Crown is recognised as Perfect for Pollinators, helping to attract bees and beneficial insects into the garden. The seed range is produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society.
This variety prefers full sun and well drained soil. Removing spent flower heads will help prolong flowering and maintain a tidy appearance. Late sowings will flower the following year.
For indoor sowing, sow from February to May in trays of moist compost. Cover lightly with compost and keep at 15 to 20C. Seedlings appear once established and can be transplanted 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise outdoors in late May before planting 20cm apart in flowering position in June.
Plants flower from July to October in the same year from early sowings.
